5 Ways to Maximize Brand Exposure on LinkedIn

Are you taking advantage of all of LinkedIn’s content marketing features? Do you know what types of content work best on LinkedIn? In this article, I’ve provided you with 5 tips on how to maximize your brand exposure on LinkedIn:

 

1) Optimize Your Profile

Do you know that LinkedIn users with complete profiles are 40 times more likely to get noticed and found? So, let’s review the basics of what makes a complete profile. Think of it as your online resume. Would you submit a resume half complete?

  • Upload a nice, professional picture of you.
  • In the Summary section, stay away from unrealistic and vague titles and promises.
  • Fill all the sections with relevant information.
  • Display samples of your work in the Summary, Education and Experience sections. You can share links, upload files or take advantage of the partnership with SlideShare.
  • Include an optimized tagline and relevant keywords in your descriptions.
  • Don’t forget the Contact Info section. Add the link to your company’s website, your phone number, email address, and Twitter handle.
  • Make sure your name is in your LinkedIn URL for SEO purposes. For example: ca.linkedin.com/in/alexnoudelman

2) Join Relevant Groups

LinkedIn Groups are a great tool to find valuable connections, potential customers and interesting topics to discuss and write about. Many experts recommend joining 50+ groups.  You can also create your own Group and invite all your connections to join. Focus on building meaningful relationships with members. Be helpful, interact and avoid being pushy about your services / products. People are open to overt self-promotion, but only if they know you are a trusted authority. More importantly, once you are a member of a group, check out the group’s profile to see if there are any specific rules. Monitor discussions for a few days to see what types of topics do well before contributing.

3) Leverage LinkedIn Pulse by Writing Long-Form Posts

Located in the drop-down menu of your Interests section, Pulse is LinkedIn’s official blogging platform. All your and other members’ long-form posts are listed there. However, with over 1m bloggers writing 200,000+ articles weekly, the competition for exposure and stardom is fierce, unless the Pulse team features your content. This is your ticket to massive exposure. LinkedIn Pulse can also be used to spy on what your competitors publish and understand what resonates the most with consumers interested in your products. Leaving thoughtful comments under articles is also a great way to increase awareness.

4) Carefully Craft Your Headline

Beginner bloggers often don’t spend much time on their headlines. When writing on LinkedIn, the headline is even more critical, especially if you don’t have a large following. If people click on your post to read it, LinkedIn’s algorithm will display your post to even more people. Furthermore, if other people like, share or comment on your post, this activity will show up on their LinkedIn feed and be visible to all their connections.

5) Send Published Article to LinkedIn Pulse for Consideration

LinkedIn’s editors do a decent job of finding good content, but with the abundance of content being written on LinkedIn, they don’t see everything. Many people don’t know this, but you can actually tweet your post to the LinkedIn editorial team at @LinkedInPulse to make them aware of it. A simple message never hurts. What’s the worst that could happen? They don’t publish your post.
